We reach many people through our website www.casalamariposa.eu. We also send newsletters full of inspiration. In doing so we process personal data in various ways. We take your privacy very seriously. In this document we explain as clearly as possible what this means, why we do it and which rights you can exercise.

Because most companies' privacy statements are written in incomprehensible legal jargon, we've summarised the most important points for you here in (more or less) plain language. Casa La Mariposa website

We want to offer you a beautiful website full of inspiration that meets your expectations. To make this happen, we use website analytics tools, social plug-ins and advertising platforms.

Our website uses Google Analytics and similar website analytics tools. These programs record your site usage and store data about it. We use this data to create visitor statistics for our website and to make improvements.

Like almost every website you visit, we use cookies. We use functional cookies to make our website work better, analytical cookies improve ease of use, and tracking cookies show us what visitors do on our website. This data can also be used to serve advertisements. To visit our website we ask you to accept these cookies, as we are required to do. No worries! Cookies won't hurt you and are simply part of the web. Third-party cookies are also needed to show videos on our website or to let you share information on social media. The nice thing about these cookies: zero calories. You can opt out of cookies by setting your browser so that it no longer stores cookies. You can also delete all previously stored information via your browser settings. You can also install a browser plugin such as Privacy Badger to block (certain) cookies.

Our website uses the Facebook Pixel. It keeps track of which pages you visit on our website. The Facebook Pixel ensures that you see relevant Casa La Mariposa content on Facebook and that our advertisements are better tailored to your needs. That way we can serve you better online. You can share our articles via various social media using so-called 'social plug-ins' - those nice buttons from Facebook and Twitter. Their terms and conditions and privacy policies apply to the use of these social media.

Email & Casa La Mariposa

We will only email you if you have filled in one of our forms yourself. We always ask only for the necessary information. Before we can send you anything, we ask for your name, phone number and email address. We use your name to personalise the email; the email address is required to send it. Without this information we cannot email you. We only use your phone number if we need more information about the question you asked on our contact page.

When you book our holiday home, we will email you a few times with information about the booking. We will not send you messages unrelated to the holiday you booked. The details you enter on the registration form are needed to process your booking. We use your details only for the specific holiday you signed up for. If you would like to receive other content later, you can give your consent via an opt-in through one of our channels (including our website or email).

After you sign up, your details end up in the Mailchimp program. This program sends out email messages and then shows us whether our emails are being read. It is very valuable for us to know whether you read an article or click through to a video. We can also use this information to send you more content about topics you find interesting. Your data is not used for automated decision-making or other purposes.

Consent to receive email can be withdrawn at any time. At the bottom of every email we give you the option to adjust your email preferences in a few clicks or to unsubscribe completely from all email communication. If that doesn't work, you can always send us an email at info@casalamariposa.eu or call us, and we'll sort it out for you.

Personal data

When you book a holiday, Casa La Mariposa asks for personal data, but never more than necessary for the programme. Sometimes a name, email address and phone number are enough; in other cases address details are also needed, for example. A name is needed to offer our products personally, the email address to send products, and a home address is only used to send materials and create invoices.

Casa La Mariposa uses the following programs:

• Smoobu: used to book and manage trips;
• Stripe: used to receive payments;
• Hubspot: newsletters are sent from this system;
• Google Forms/SurveyMonkey: these programs process survey data;
• Mailchimp: used to send emails;

Your privacy

The tools we use for website analytics do not store full IP addresses. That's good, because it means this data can no longer be traced back to your computer, tablet or phone.

When you visit our website, we do not ask you to fill in any details. We only ask for this if, for example, you want to book a holiday or have a question for us. For sending email messages we never ask for more information than necessary. We never give or sell the information we have about you to other parties, and the information we collect is safe with us.

We take the protection of your data very seriously. We take the necessary measures to prevent misuse, loss or access by third parties. Should a data breach occur despite all our efforts, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and contact those affected.

Retention

Due to tax regulations, Casa La Mariposa is required to keep participants' data for a period of seven years. After this period the data is deleted.

If you are in our mailing system, we store your name, email address and phone number with care. If you have unsubscribed from our email list, we make sure your data is removed from our systems within 100 days.

 Your rights

You always have the right to ask us for access to the data we hold about you. You can also ask us to change or delete this data. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also gives you the right to file a complaint about Casa La Mariposa with the Dutch Data Protection Authority if you disagree with the way we handle(d) your personal data.
